The Founders

The TradePost magazine was founded 65 years back in July 1959 by two entrepreneurs, passionate about watches and clocks, operating then from a modest office located opposite the Akbarally’s Department store, at Flora Fountain (now renamed Hutatma Chowk), Bombay (now called Mumbai). These two entrepreneurs were the Late. Mr. V.K. Anand and the Late Mr. Mihir Suryaprasad Kharod. Today, the second generation, headed by Mr. Hemal Mihir Kharod (son of Late Mr. Mihir S. Kharod) - the current Editor-In-Chief & COO and his team, continue to run the publication.

Its vision, on the other hand is to continue to move forward with time, towards this goal passionately and ceaselessly, and achieve it.

Most of all, for the 65 years wealth of experience it has been proudly backed by, the magazine has virtually travelled through every phase of the industry's growth, eventually witnessing the evolvement of this industry from nascency to where it has finally reached today. Today, Trade Post is greatly revered as well as appreciated for the stellar role it has all along played through these past many decades towards achieving this goal and continuing to maintain it. Besides all of these, TradePost has also attempted hard to excavate and focus from time-to-time on hidden talents working for brands in different operational capacities, and bring their achievements into limelight, highlighting the same in the form of articles written exclusively about their contribution. It promotes all watch, smart wearable, clock, jewellery, and lifestyle accessory brands, regardless of the categories and price segments they are respectively placed in either in India or abroad, besides ancillary makers and service providers to these industries. Most of all, as the strengths of all forward looking organisations depend largely on the very dedicated and faithful teams working for them ceaselessly day-in-and-day-out in pursuit of their focused goal, the Team at TradePost too led by Hemal M. Kharod, who is passionate, about not only taking Horological Journalism to an altogether different level, a level that has gained appreciable admiration over the years, but also in having relentlessly continued to transform both the presentation and contents of the magazine from time-to-time, with its sole objective of being with the times!

Samay Bharatis - The India International Watch & Clock Fairs

Besides its core business of publishing, TradePost has also been holding exhibitions in India at regular intervals of time exclusively for watches, clocks, ancillaries, service providers and lifestyle accessories. These exhibitions are named - Samaya Bharati - The India International Watch & Clock Fair. These 4- day expositions, are held every alternate year, in some of the major metros of India such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bangalore and Rajkot. The participants include not only the leading Indian Watch & Clock brands, but also many world renowned Global Watch & Clock brands, as well as Manufacturers of Ancillaries and Service Providers to these two specialized sectors, as well as brands making Lifestyle Accessories. The guests include almost the entire Who’s Who of the Horological industry and trade of India as well as an unique combination of B2B and B2C corporates and political heads besides specially invited luminaries from Bollywood and the World of Sports, including the Elite of the cities where these Fairs are held, and of course not forgetting the direct end- consumers at large. All through the four days of the exhibition, there are Press Meets, Seminars, Product Launches, Knowledge Sharing Sessions as well as After Hours Get-Togethers organized by Leading Watch & Clock brands as well as Local Horological Associations. These are held at prestigious venues to enable industry representatives interact and mix uninhibited and freely with their customers - the Trade Channels. Over the years that they have been held in different parts of the country, the Samaya Bharati Fairs have achieved a tremendous following, in that they have brought about the much needed consumer awareness and an opportunity in a vast country such as India, for the trade and retail fraternity of the country to come to a common networking platform and gain an in-depth knowledge of some of the latest technological and design innovations and advancements happening in and around the word watch and clock industries every two years, besides offering them equally good opportunities to diversify into newer brands and product avenues as well as forge new business relationships, with a view to enhance their product portfolio and canvas.
