Trade Post – The International Watch & Clock Magazine, as its name implies, is a monthly magazine, wholly devoted to reporting news, trends and other matters of interest related to the world watch and clock industry. Published out of India at Mumbai, it has been serving this industry every month for 57 years now, ceaselessly providing watch and clock makers, distributors, designers, retailers, ancillaries or anyone connected even remotely with this industry or its trade, with news and information about events and happenings related to this industry, occurring both within and without India. Backed by the philosophy of maintaining a strictly disciplined authenticity in its reportage about the developments in this industry from time-to-time, it also presents a month-to-month analyses of the industry as a whole, besides carrying interviews and the opinions of brand heads that also form interesting reading material. Today, a highly respected magazine that centers itself around this industry and the various markets spread across India and the world, it is also a necessary medium for people connected with the watch and clock business, besides connoisseurs of horological creations, collectors as well as direct consumers.

The Trade Post magazine was launched by two entrepreneurs, passionate about watches and clocks, operating then from a modest office located opposite the Akbarally’s departmental store, at Flora Fountain, Bombay.

The two entrepreneurs were the Late. Mr. V.K. Anand and the current Editor-in-Chief Mr. Mihir S. Kharod. Today, the second generation headed by Mr. Hemal M. Kharod and his team (son of Mr. Mihir Kharod) are assisting in the running of the publication.

The monthly magazine was first published in July 1959.

Today, 58 years in the running, our main activities are reporting on a month-to- month basis news concerning: the Indian and World watch and clock industry, about the on-going situation of the markets, about events and product launches happening both within and without India from time-to-time, about new retail showrooms of substance opening in India as well as major metros of the world, staging of exhibitions and seminars centered around these two industries, organizing Buying Missions from India to Hong Kong etc, assisting new entrepreneurs interested in manufacturing or trading of watches & clocks set up their own businesses besides rendering help in providing a reliable bridge and connection between leading world watch & clock brands on a constant basis with business partners in India as well as with watch and clock collectors and direct consumers. Last but not least, we have strived to constantly encourage those luminaries and personalities over the years every year, who have contributed vastly to the growth and development of the horological industry both in India as well as other watch & clock making centres of the world, by instituting by way of appreciation and gratitude towards them, awards such as the Trade Post Man of the Year Award, Trade Post Technocrat of the Year Award, Trade Post Marketing Excellence of the Year Award, Trade Post Excellent Retailer of the Year Award, Trade Post Lifetime Achievement Award and the coveted Movers of Time Awards (a set of 12 separate awards representing the 12 hours of a watch dial) given away to 12 outstanding performers every other (alternate) year related to the watch, clock and associated industries, including retail and Service Providers.

Our mission is to help develop the horological industry and trade of India grow into healthy businesses as well as to help build and foster a long lasting relationship between brands and the trade fraternity and other business channels.

Our vision is to continue to move forward towards this goal passionately and achieve it.

Trade Post has been organizing the largest and most visited watch and clock exhibitions in India – the India International Watch & Clock Fair – Samaya Bharati for the past several years. 18 editions of the same have been held so far, with Indian and Foreign companies, both from the watch and clock sectors as the participants, as well as many also from the related ancillary and service providing industries. The latest of these – 18th edition held from Thursday 28 to Sunday 31, January 31, 2016 held at Mumbai, surpassed all the previous editions, as this time around, it also included two knowledge sharing fora for the first time, one on the subject of “Women Empowerment” and the other about the “Indian Watch Industry & the Changing Face of Indian Retail.” Both the fora were represented by eminent Personalities and Houses who hold Leadership positions in the Indian Watch Industry as well as Indian Watch Retail.

Our core strength lies in the relations we have built over the years with watch and clock brands, with the trade, with retailers, with designers and with everyone connected even remotely with watches and clocks. Most of all, for the 57 years wealth of experience seeing this industry virtually evolve from nascency into what it has come to be today, Trade Post is greatly revered for the role it has all along played towards achieving this goal and continuing to maintain it. Besides all of these, we also try hard to find out and focus from time-to-time on hidden talents working for brands in different operational capacities, and bring their achievements to the fore, in the form of articles written exclusively about their contribution.

We promote all watch and clock brands of all categories and price segments both from India, as well as other countries.

The magazine is distributed across India from the North to the South and from the East to the West of the country. It is also distributed in many other countries like Switzerland, France, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, the Middle East, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Singapore and the United States.

Our Target audience comprises: manufacturers of watches, clocks and related ancillaries, designers, traders, retailers, distributors, event organizers, the advertising world as well as watch and clock collectors and of course the general direct consumers. Besides these, our magazine also goes to the smallest of watch repairers across the country, regardless of their size and capacity.

Among the achievements and accolades that Trade Post has gathered over the years are the many awards, certificates and letters of appreciation that it has constantly received from Indian and International horological institutions and bodies, as well as those received from various associations and brands, lauding its exceptional contribution and services in the interest of time.

The India International Watch & Clock Fairs – Samaya BharatiBesides its core business of publishing, Trade Post has also been holding its own exhibitions in India exclusively for watches, clocks and ancillaries related to these two important sectors. These exhibitions are named: 'Samay Bharati', The India International Watch & Clock Fair.
These 4-day expositions, are held every alternate year, in some of the major metros of India like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bangalore and Rajkot.

The participants include not only the leading Indian watch & clock brands, but also many world renowned international watch & clock brands, as well as manufacturers of ancillaries and service providers to these two specialized sectors.

The guests include almost the entire Who’s Who of the Horological industry and trade of India as well as political heads, besides specially invited fraternity from Bollywood and the Gaming world, as well as the elite of the cities where these Fairs are held, and of course not forgetting the mass and class consumers at large.

All through the four days of each exhibition, there are Press Meets and Gala Dinner functions organized by leading watch and clock brands held at prestigious venues to enable the industry representatives interact and freely mix with their customers – the Business Channels.

The exhibitions have achieved a tremendous following in that they have over the years brought about the much needed consumer awareness and the opportunity in a vast country like India, for the trade and retail fraternity of the country to come to a common platform and gain an in-depth knowledge of some of the latest technological and design innovations happening in and around the word watch and clock industries every two years, besides offering them an opportunity to diversify into newer brands as well as forge new business relationships.

18 Samay Bharati Fairs have been held so far until 2016. The next Samay Bharati is slated to be held in 2018, promising as before, to be a Grand and Spectacular national event that will showcase some of the world’s finest horological creations.
